Narmada Shopping Complex
The Narmada Group of Companies, situated in the Narmada Shopping Complex, Kaudiar, Trivandrum 695 003, comprises 3 private limited companies, viz.,
1. Narmada Building Enterprises (P) Ltd., Established in 1976;
2. Narmada Design Centre (P) Ltd., Established in 1978; and
3. Narmada Consumer Stores (P) Ltd., Established in 1982.
The above Companies own the biggest shopping complex for building materials and consumer items in the State of Kerala. The affairs of the Narmada Companies are managed by persons, who are held in great esteem by the Public.
The basic objectives of the Narmada Companies is to supply quality items at moderate prices to the consumers. The shopping complex is situated in a spacious land of one acre in extent in a most prestigious location in the Trivandrum city. This complex is conceptually different from other shopping complexes.
There are 30 licencee firms in the Narmada Shopping Complex, each dealing in a specific range of products or providing specific services. The show room space (total area about 30,000 sq.ft.) and the godown space (about 20,000 sq.ft.) are provided free of rent to these licencee firms. Water, Electricity, Common Office, Cashier Service, Security, etc., are also provided free to the licencee firms. In turn, the licencee firms give a service charge to the Company as a certain percentage of the turn over of the firms. The Narmada Companies have control over the quality and price of the products sold by the licencee firms. The sale of certain basic building construction materials like cement and steel are only carried out directly by the Narmada Companies. The sale of such materials, handled by the Narmada Companies was about Rs.151 million during the last financial year and is expected to register a 20% increase atleast during the current year.
The Narmada Group of Companies have also established a net work of stockists and dealers to cover the entire State of Kerala and this has enabled them to function as the marketing agents for certain selected products throughout Kerala. Many leading manufacturers of building materials and consumer durables are regularly approaching the Narmada Group of Companies for marketing their products on a State wide basis. The policy of the Company in this regard is to take up the marketing of 1 or 2 selected products additionally each year.
The Narmada Group of Companies has a sister concern, namely, Yamuna Constructions (P) Ltd. The main activities of Yamuna Constructions (P) Ltd., are construction of commercial and residential buildings including flats, and real estate business. This company, which has an excellent team of highly qualified and experienced technical personnel, are also undertaking construction works of major organisations like Airport Authority of India, Air India, Tourism Development Corporation of Kerala, Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation, etc.
The sheer elegance of the Narmada Shopping Complex, Sunday Shopping facility, ample car parking space and above all the availability of a wide range of quality building materials and consumer items at the most competitive prices, has earned the admiration of all classes of customers, and the shopping complex, as such, is now a major land mark in the Trivandrum City.
